Pat Newcombe

I have been a writer (of some kind) for many years as a hobby but, since retirement, I have more time (???) so writing has now become my main interest.

I spent most of my working life in the health service as a nurse/health visitor and then as a child protection advisor but took early-ish retirement a few years back. I wanted to fulfil a lifelong ambition to gain a degree so I enrolled at university as a mature student and I am now proud to say I have a first class degree in creative writing. I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed being back in the education arena and I learned so much!

Nowadays I mostly write thriller/romantic thrillers although I do have a portfolio of short stories too.

After my first book was published I decided I wanted to meet more like-minded people and I joined NAWG – approx 10 years ago. I have attended some memorable festivals in years gone by and met some very interesting people. In fact, it was at my very first festival that I met my very good friend Pam (chairman of NAWG) and our friendship flourishes to this day.

I am the author of three full novels and have written numerous short articles on writing. Many of these are featured on my blog which I try to keep updated regularly: www.writingsavedmylife.blogspot.com.

I maintain two facebook author pages ThrillerwriterPJNewcombe and Pat-Newcombe-Romantic-Thrillers.

I also have a twitter account: @patnewcombe and a website page patricianewcombe.webnode.com where samples of my books can be found.

I live in beautiful Derbyshire and I am married with three adult children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They all keep me busy too!
